What makes TAKAMERU matcha different?
TAKAMERU Ceremonial Uji Matcha is single-origin ceremonial matcha: first-harvest Okumidori leaves from Uji, Kyoto, stone-ground into a fine powder. One cultivar, one region, one harvest, with no blends or fillers.
What is in the tin?
100% Japanese green tea (matcha). Nothing added: no sugar, flavorings or fillers. Each tin holds 1 oz (30 g).
How do I make a traditional bowl?
Sift about 1 tsp (2 g) of matcha into a bowl. Add about 2 oz (60–70 ml) of hot water just off the boil, around 175°F (80°C). Whisk briskly in a zigzag ("M" or "W") motion with a bamboo chasen until a fine foam forms, about 15–20 seconds. Step-by-step: classic usucha recipe.
How do I make a matcha latte?

How should I store matcha?
Keep the tin sealed in a cool, dry place away from light. After opening, storing it in the fridge helps keep its color and flavor. Let the tin come to room temperature before opening so moisture doesn't form inside.

Why should I sift matcha?
Matcha is a very fine powder and naturally clumps. Sifting breaks up those clumps so it whisks into a smooth cup. Our matcha sifter tin has a 40-mesh sieve and 3 agitator rings: add matcha, close the lid, shake, and the sifted powder collects in the tin.
How do I care for the bamboo chasen?
Hand wash only. Rinse the tines with clean water after each use, shake off excess water and let it air-dry on its glass holder. Do not soak the handle.
What batteries does the frother use?
2 AAA batteries (not included). It is cordless, with no charging base.
How do I clean the frother?
The 304 stainless steel whisk detaches. Rinse it under running water.
